Landon Donavan has a new fan....Me

Ok, I have to admit, I have never been a big Landon Donovan fan. I always admired his pace, a decent finisher, but, I have to say I thought he was a little soft, not really creative, and lacked the touch on set plays. But, in the last few internationals, I have to say, Landon, you little bugger, you have really won me over. I don't know if the time spent at Bayern Munchen or just good ol maturing is what did it, but, Mr Donovan, you have become the leader on the field that a lot of people (that are obviously much smarter than I) said you would.

Not to say that before today you where a no show, you have provided some amazing moments (see the Mexico game a couple of years back), but I guess maybe it was a lack of perceived consistency, or lack of assists, I don't know. But, I have to say over these last few USMNT Games, Landon has been a play maker, the one US player running at players, drawing players and then finding the openings, slicing open defenses, providing nice crisp free kicks, and being cool and composed on penalty kicks. Landon has been making the players around him better, which is what good players do.

So, Mr. Donovan, well done, keep up the good play, I'll be rooting for you!
